Decked Out – DJ PROFILES

play-button.JPG

Without DJs, our nights would be silent discos of the shit variety. Find out more about the men and the woman! who keep you lot dancing, raving and rollerskating each and every weekend!

SIMBA  Well, he was actually conceived against a wardrobe over a cheap bottle of plonk, and born in Browns in Preston.simba1.JPGThe early years of his existence are still a mystery although there had been sighting of his long mane chasing buffalos along  the River Ribble, although this was never confirmed nor denied.Fast forward to 2009, well fed and with a very long mane, he continues to play records via a Mac, which is very pretty apparently.

And this very clever lion has also set up a MySpace with his dates on.All things considered, that’s pretty spectacular for an animal that isn’t in the zoo.

Big roar.

DIRTY DAN

As a resident for ‘On A Plate’, ‘For No Reason’, and new club night ‘Paradox Presents’, Dan has also reached the finals of the intedan.JPGrnational Cream DJ competition two years in a row beating off some of the country’s most talented DJs. Playing a mix of House, Techno, Electro, Breaks, D&B. Hip Hop and Indie Dirty Dan rocks crowds every week with his unique, in your face turntable wizardry! Dan is  a DJ not to be missed!

MELO

Having starmelo1.jpged DJing at the tender age of 14 Melo cut his teeth at various clubs around the Manchester scene in the 90’s before taking up residency at Goodfellows in Piccadilly a pre-Hacienda venue. It was here that Melo fell in love with House music. Moving onto other venues in the North West saw melo gain vast amounts of experience, playing everything from Disco to Soul, from Dance to R&B

Melo prides himself on being able to work and please a crowd and play anything you like, if he’s got it, he’ll play it and he has a lot!  It was these skills that brought him to us! If former students of Lancaster have a tear in their eye each time they hear Greenday’s Good riddance because of the memories it evokes, this is the man who made it so!! Melo is the man who likes to be known as ‘the DJ who plays anything and everything’ so long as you can dance to it! Proper good calf work out!

Feel free to visit the facebook page for Melo!

LOUD

Half womaloud.jpgn, half machine, DJ LouD is the only female currently taking to the Sugar House DJ booth……

Her 16 year Djing journey began in Bolton where, in the resepected bosom of Scratchy McVinyl, she developed her aural technique. Having graduated to the teachings of Four Track Von Tape, she had honed her curious and unique microphone manner. Once cds had arrived on the scene, DJ LouD had done radion, achieving runner-up in the Student Radio One awards in 1998 under the pseudonym, M.A.D. She’d also played various local haunts, whipping average party goers into sweaty, throbbing throngs. She’s been at the Shagga since she had long hair. Unfortunately, due to a freak accident with the headphones she now sports a shorter, cropped barnet. Although renowned for her mighty collection, DJ LouD sits comfortably with the music of the 80’s abd 90’s, her formative years…..

CAWKY

Adam was first introduced to the world of Djing at the tender age of 12! After a period of warming up for established DJ’s in Lancaster hecawky1.jpg was rewarded with his first residency at Liquid.  5 years experience working  in various venues from Syndicate in Blackpool through to Rome, Kos and Helsinki, has seen Cawky develop his own style of sexy and sumptuous R&B/hip hop, a style reflective of his own personal tastes. Having your own style is a key value that this DJ still holds true and strives to deliver in his weekly residency at Sugarhouse. Cawky dedicates his work to the memory of his mum, who he lost when he was just 11. It is this that keeps him motivated, continuing to provide ‘good music and good vibes’ to audiences everywhere!
